Welcome to the Danforth
The Danforth Business Improvement Area (BIA) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada - your destination for delicious food, entertaining theatre, lively pubs, romantic cafés and distinctive shops and services. Located just east of the Don Valley across the Bloor Viaduct Bridge along the Danforth and Broadview Avenues we are easily accessible by two subway stops (Broadview and Chester), bicycle (100+ bike racks), car (100+ parking spots) and by foot within a 15 minute walk east from Yonge and Bloor. It all starts here with 350+ shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and services.

History

Danforth Avenue in Toronto, Ontario, Canada was named after Asa Danforth, an American contractor who was commissioned in 1799 to cut the Danforth but didn't actually build it. The Don and Danforth Plank Road Company built Danforth Ave in 1851, connecting it to Broadview Ave and creating a viable route to the more populous surrounding communities down near Queen St East and Kingston Road.
