Taste of the Danforth is fast approaching. For all restaurants and pubs interested in participating, your application deadline was July 22. For all retailers, your application deadline is tomorrow - Weds. July 28. Please remember that you are not able to sell anything in front of your property or from your existing patios unless you have registered to participate in the 2010 Taste. You are also not allowed to sell anything that you don't normally sell throughout the year ie. a shoe store can not sell ice cream during Taste.
Also, the City has stepped in this year and will be the ones monitoring Taste participants. The Danforth BIA and the Greektown BIA will not be doing this. A master list of all registered participants will be given to the City, anyone selling during Taste who is not on this master list will be asked to shut down immediately by the City. Below is a notice from Greektown BIA. You will see that your permits will be delivered to all Taste registered businesses next week. If you have registered but do not receive your permit please contact me as soon as possible and we will try and sort out the matter.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL BIA MEMBERS
REGARDING TASTE OF THE DANFORTH
We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of some important items pertaining to the upcoming festival:
· APPLICATION DEADLINE—the deadline to submit your completed paperwork to apply to participate in the 17th Annual Pilaros Taste of the Danforth is 6pm on Wednesday, July 28th. Applications cannot be accepted after this deadline, as we must have time to process your paperwork and circulate it to the necessary City departments.
· FOOD HANDLERS TRAINING SESSIONS—The GreekTown BIA has arranged to have Toronto Public Health hold two Special Event Food Handlers Training Classes. This course is being offered free of charge to help prepare our vendors for the Taste of the Danforth with respect to safe food handling practices. If your employees who will be working the Taste Station do not already have their Toronto Public Health Food Handlers Certificate (the one valid for five years) then it is highly recommended that you send staff members to attend this session. The sessions will take place on Friday, July 30th at the East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Avenue in the lower lobby (basement). The first session will run from 1pm to 4pm and the second session will run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Please note that latecomers will not be admitted and you must attend the session you register for, as space is limited. Please call 416-338-1859 or the BIA to register for the one of these sessions.
· Permits will be delivered next week on August 4th and 5th to all BIA members who have been approved to participate in the event. Someone from your staff must sign our delivery list to confirm receipt of the permit. If they do not sign the list, we cannot leave the permit and you will not be able to set up your Taste station. Please ensure that the signed permit and map are posted on the inside of your front window in the upper left or upper right corner where they can clearly be seen. If the permit and map are not posted and easily visible, your Taste station will be closed down.
· Please note that we have been warned by Toronto Police, Fire and Emergency Services that any unauthorized vehicles parked inside the barricades on the side streets or blocking access to the barricades or side streets during the Taste of the Danforth will be ticketed and towed away immediately. For safety reasons it is crucial that emergency vehicles have clear access to all side streets.
