MICHELLE RUMBALL WITH DONNE ROBERTS

Michelle Rumball is a proud Scarborough gal and a maker and chaser of songs. Juno nominated for her time in the Grievous Angels, she has played solo for many years and is a mainstay in the Toronto club scene. She comes from folk tradition but a few years spent in New Orleans have dusted her guitar/voice based music with a jazz/blues across the genres feel. Expect any kind of song, delivered like she owns them all.

Donne Roberts is from Madagascar and performs mainly in Malagasy. Now based in Toronto, he has a history that ranges from his Juno winning work with the African Guitar Summit, to being an MTV DJ in Russia to performing as a back-up singer with Ace of Bass. His shows are energetic and audiences are compelled to sing along in whatever language he is singing in.

The Sunflower Project

In celebration of BD Beats, BIA business member @cobsdanforth (156 Danforth Ave.) will be spearheading ‘The Sunflower Project’ , a fundraiser in support of a Ukrainian family’s recent resettlement in Toronto. Vibrant solar powered sunflowers (the official flower of Ukraine) will be available beginning at noon on June 4 with proceeds going directly to the family. A group of volunteer youth will be selling the sunflowers for a minimum donation of $20 each at the BIA CafeTO parkette located in the curb lane enclosure in front of COBS. The goal is to sell one hundred sunflowers by 3pm. For those unable to attend but wishing to make a donation, please click below
