Friday, July 26/24 BIA Updates - Area Safety Information

Good Morning Broadview Danforth BIA Members,

I have a few items for you today relating to area security. Also I will be off next week starting on Monday, July 29th. Our BIA Board will be on-call and specifically our Board Chair, Albert Stortchak, will be available to assist with anything that may come up that can't wait until I return. SafeTO Information Guides:

  • Over the past several months BIAs in Toronto have been working with SafeTO to help create some information guides that form a base for who to call for a range of issues from police, social services and on-street problems.
  • Attached please find two SafeTO files that I believe you will find helpful and I ask that you share these with your staff, print off copies that are accessible for your staff.
  • As a reminder our Broadview Danforth BIA is part of Police Division 55 and our Community Liaison officer is PC Jonathan Little. Many of you have met PC Little - he is always available to meet with our members, visit your businesses, provide suggestions to improve your security etc.

City of Toronto's De-escalation seminars:

  • I have informed all of you about these seminars in the past. The City has just released a new schedule for upcoming seminars. There are various dates and times available and the seminars are conducted on-line.
  • Attached please find the file that lists the new schedule along with the links to register.
  • Learn how to use customer service and supportive communication for de-escalation in your workplace. The sessions are geared to managers and employees who interact with the public regularly and would like to learn strategies and skills for communicating with individuals who may be street involved or are displaying agitated behaviours.

As always, if you have any questions about the information in this email please feel free to email me.

Have a good weekend.

Susan
