Good Afternoon Broadview Danforth BIA Members,
Area Safety Reminders:
Earlier this week I sent an email about our holiday events - that was the jolly information. On the flip side, this is the time of year when we see an increase in vandalism and thefts so I wanted to make sure that once again I remind you of some safety tips and what to do if you have an incident in your business.
- Our Crime Prevention Officer, PC Jonathan Little, is always available to assist you - either after an incident or beforehand by coming to your business and providing some guidance and suggestions to improve your overall safety. You can email me to arrange an introduction or you can email Jon directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- Attached please find some information that Jon has asked me to share with all of you - please take a few minutes to read through it and share with your staff.
- If you do have an incident we ask that you please report it. I know I sound like a broken record but... these reports are really important in order to try and catch the person and to help me ensure that we have adequate police coverage in our area. If I ask for more police coverage and the police check the number of reports and only see a couple then I don't have much of a leg to stand on.
- If it's an emergency call 911; non-emergency call 416-808-2222; placing an on-line report: www.tps.ca
- Currently we do have Directed Patrols in our area. You may have noticed that every so often throughout any given day we have a cruiser stationed in the area. We have this Directed Patrol for the next 6 months.
- We had a rash of incidents over the past week both on Danforth and on Broadview. One of the people responsible has been arrested. A huge thank you to those businesses who were unfortunately hit for filing police reports - it led to this particular arrest earlier this week.
- This is a constant battle these days and it's important that we try to keep our area looking well kept, safe and welcoming to customers.
- The BIA pays for a graffiti removal service and we cover the cost to remove any street facing graffiti.
- I try to keep on top of the tags but I'm just one person so I need your help. If you see graffiti please take a photo and email it to me along with the address. I will then contact our service to add it to their removal list.
- At our recent AGM we let attending members know that we will be doing a Capital Cost Share with the city in 2025 and this will help us to pay for pole wraps throughout our BIA - both on Danforth and Broadview. These wraps are specially treated so that flyers etc won't stick to the poles. This should help with some of the mess.
Thanks,
Susan
