Happy Valentine's Day BIA Members,
This year the Broadview Danforth BIA celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early. This past Friday, Feb, 10th, we participated in our local Out of The Cold Dinner which is hosted every Friday throughout the winter at the Eastminster Church (Danforth & Jackman). To show some love for those in need in our community we were able to organize the donation of 80 litres of soup. The Out of The Cold program in our BIA serves about 110 people every Friday night.
Special thanks to Shan Khan who owns Quality Optical in our BIA and is a new member of our BIA Board of Directors for taking the lead in this initiative; and, to Loblaws for their donation of the soup.
Our Valentine’s Day soup donation idea came from @martygsensations. Marty Galen is known in Toronto as a chef, television and radio host, and the creator of the charitable event called Souperlicious. Today, Valentine’s Day, Souperlicious will be offering delicious hot soup to hundreds of people in need at multiple stations set-up around the city.
The Eastminster Out of The Cold program will continue to run through to the end of March. It is supported by many generous volunteers and through generous donations – everything from food, clothing to personal hygiene items. For those who may wish to donate full details can found on the Eastminster website: www.eastendunited.ca
