Urgent Request – Council to Vote on CEBA Loan Repayment Deadline Extension Motion this Week

Good Afternoon Broadview Danforth BIA Members,

I am asking for your help - below is a request from our Councillor, Paula Fletcher, who has been unwavering in her support and work to help extend the CEBA loan repayment dates.  She is putting a motion forward at City Council this coming Thursday, May 11/23 and support for the motion from you, our business members, is crucial.  Paula has kindly provided the information below on how to send your message of support and she has also attached wording if you choose to send an email.
This won't take you long to do but will mean so much to help get this motion passed - please take a minute or two to help us help you.
Thank you,

Dear Ward 14 BIAs and TABIA,

On Thursday May 11th City Council will vote on my motion, MM6.1, calling on the city to officially request the federal government to extend the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loan repayment deadline.

A request from City Council would send a clear, strong message to the federal government and our local MPs that the city is watching this critical issue closely and action is needed to support our local businesses.

Can your BIA members please send a message of support for this motion to City Council and Councillors?

I have included sample wording (attached) for your message of support - feel free to write your own.

It only takes moments to send a message. Follow these quick, simple steps:

  1. Open the following link to the city's webpage for motion MM6.1: https://secure.toronto.ca/council/agenda-item.do?item=2023.MM6.1
  2. Select the blue Submit Comments button near the top of the page
  3. Add in your message and send your email

If you have trouble with the above you can also send a direct email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   to express your support. Be sure to put "MM6.1 Supporting Small Businesses" in the subject line.

I'm also sending this to TABIA for support and action as well.

Working for you,
