The City of Toronto is scheduling to commence extensive repairs to Danforth Ave from Donlands Ave to Broadview Ave. Furfari Paving will be the city contractor who will be undertaking the construction of this project. From October to December 2013, the Ministry of Labour will conduct an employment standards blitz focusing on retail services. During last Friday's Toast to the Holidays event, someone won a $1,000 in Danforth dollars - good to spend at any retailer within the Danforth BIA. After a discussion with the City Wednesday regarding the progress of the sidewalk/road construction on Danforth Ave we have an update.  Since the work has taken longer than the City anticipated, they will be stopping at Chester and NOT starting work in our BIA during the Holiday Season.  The project will resume in the spring of 2013 and our area will be done at that time.Many of you have noticed that our garbage bins have been removed - this was…

The Sunflower Project

In celebration of BD Beats, BIA business member @cobsdanforth (156 Danforth Ave.) will be spearheading ‘The Sunflower Project’ , a fundraiser in support of a Ukrainian family’s recent resettlement in Toronto. Vibrant solar powered sunflowers (the official flower of Ukraine) will be available beginning at noon on June 4 with proceeds going directly to the family. A group of volunteer youth will be selling the sunflowers for a minimum donation of $20 each at the BIA CafeTO parkette located in the curb lane enclosure in front of COBS. The goal is to sell one hundred sunflowers by 3pm. For those unable to attend but wishing to make a donation, please click below
