Good Morning All,
I have a few things for you this morning:
1. First off - today the Province of Ontario is listing 182 new cases of Covid - this marks the 5th day in a row that we have been under the 300 new case count. This coming Monday, June 15 the Premier will announce who next can move to Stage 2. Fingers crossed that these lower numbers might mean that Toronto is able to move to Stage 2. If that does happen then our Stage 2 openings would be able to happen next Friday, June 19th. For our restaurants/pubs/cafes that means that you would be able to have people sit in your patio areas - not inside - although the Premier may change that and allow some indoors - I don't know at this time. It also means the opening of some of our personal service businesses which includes hair/nail salons. I'm attaching the City's Guideline files again to this email for both restaurants and personal service businesses. I sent this out last week but I want to make sure that you've all read through these guidelines so you are fully prepared if some sort of openings are allowed next Friday.
2. Mayor Tory will be doing a walk through of our BIA tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm. Your Board Chair, Albert Stortchak, Councillor Paula Fletcher and I will be joining the Mayor. We will be starting at the Carrot Common and walking west along our section. The Mayor will be doing regular visits over the next month and a bit as we prepare to roll out the City's Destination Danforth program which, as you all know, includes the implementation of bike lanes and the CafeTO curb lane patios. The Mayor may wish to pop into some of our businesses tomorrow - just a head's up.
3. Rent Issues - we're almost halfway through June and I'm wondering how everyone is doing with rent and if there's been some movement from our landlords re: the CECRA program. Please let me know.
Please have a good weekend and continue to stay safe,
