Danforth Heritage List Update

Good Afternoon All,

Back on May 11/22 property owners along Danforth Avenue and Broadview Avenue received letters indicating if their property had been added to the City's Heritage listing.  Please note that this letter indicated that properties were being put forward as a Heritage Listing NOT as a Heritage Designation.  A copy of this letter is attached.  This letter includes all addresses being proposed for the list.

For Broadview Danforth BIA Members who are reading this message but are not the property owner for your location I'm asking that you please forward this message to your property owner.

A Heritage Listing is different from a Heritage Designation.  If your property is listed it means that your building has been flagged within the City's Heritage system.  It doesn't mean that you can't proceed with renovations etc.  Property owners can proceed as they wish.  The only time that a Heritage Listed property would be "flagged" is if the owner planned to demolish the building.  In that instance the City would have 60 days to further study the building in order to determine if it merits a Heritage designation.

This Wednesday, June 29/22 the approval for the complete list will be going to Toronto and East York Community Council.  Here is the link for the Agenda for this meeting and includes information on how to provide comments or make a presentation to Community Council.  Please note the report recommending the listing of properties on Danforth Avenue on the Heritage Register is item TE34.59.

Please find below some helpful links related to the Danforth Study including the Council-approved Urban Design Guidelines:
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will try to provide further information.

Thanks,
Susan
