Friday, June 9/23 Update: Construction, CafeTO, Taste, CEBA

Good Afternoon BIA Members,

Another week, another set of updates as follows:

1. Broadview Danforth Construction + Weekend Subway Closures
A reminder that there is no subway service after 11pm tonight from Broadview to Woodbine.  This closure will run for all of tomorrow (Sat.) and Sunday.  Service will resume on Monday morning.  Shuttle buses will be running during the closure.
- The sewer lining work on Broadview is almost complete.  Tonight crews will be in the intersection of Broadview and Danforth starting at 8pm through to 6am tomorrow morning in order to complete the final part of this work.  Paid duty police will be in the intersection directing traffic - things will be a bit of a mess later tonight once the subway closes and the shuttle buses are running.
- TTC staff are distributing service rerouting notices in advance of the construction start date of July 4th.  As of July 4th there will be NO TTC service on Broadview from Gerrard to the Broadview station.
- The July 4th start date is still confirmed.  The City, the contractor and I are still working on delivery and access plans for our members in the hot zone on Broadview; and, for our members located on the north side of Danforth between Ellerbeck and Broadview for the 2 week road closure scheduled right after Taste.
- We still do not have a confirmed plan for the TTC work that will take place on Broadview between Danforth and Erindale.  The TTC did however confirm today that this work will take place in September.

2. CafeTO & BD Beats Updates
- We have been told by the City that we should expect our CafeTO installation to take place sometime next week.  I'm hoping that this is true.  We still are waiting on the finalized street plans.  There was a very good article on this whole mess in the Toronto Star yesterday - I'm including the link at the end of this email.  Well worth taking a few minutes to read it.
-  As you all know we tried to do a soft launch of our BD Beats summer music program this week but due to the poor air quality we had to postpone the bands for last night and tonight.  We will have the Carl Bray Quartet playing this Sunday, June 11 from 1pm to 4pm in the courtyard of the Carrot Common.
- We are doing our best to juggle BD Beats performances given that we still don't have the CafeTO installation which includes our 2 parkettes where we host BD Beats.

3. Taste
You should all have received your Taste registration packages by now.  If you did NOT receive a package and want one please email me and I will sort it out.

4. CEBA Repayment Issues
Some of you have been asking me if we've made any progress on extending the repayment deadline.  To date we have not but we will continue to push on this over the next few weeks.
