Reminder: Planning Issues on the Danforth June 13 Meeting

Dear Friends,

I wanted to remind you that you can join me along with staff from City Planning and City Legal for an update on planning issues on the Danforth.

Date: Tuesday, June 13th, 2023
Time: 7:00 p.m.

This session will take place on Zoom. If you have not yet registered you can do so at this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Q6oJ7gNpR_u_D7lBgPq2PQ and you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the session.

Updates on:

The Application for a 49-story Building at Pape and Danforth
City staff led a well-attended community consultation about this proposed development last February. City Planning and Legal staff will give an update on the application and what it means now that the developer has appealed it to the Ontario Land Tribunal (former OMB). More information here: www.toronto.ca/654DanforthAve

Provincially mandated Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs) and Transit Oriented Community (TOC)
The Provincial Government has mandated the city to consider extra density at transit nodes. They have also initiated a Transit Oriented Community at East Harbour and Gerrard & Carlaw along the Ontario Line route. What will it mean to have an MTSA and/or TOC at Pape and Danforth where both subway lines will meet?

Danforth Avenue Planning Study Appeal
City Council adopted new Official Plan policies for the Danforth from the Don Valley to Coxwell. Council also committed to future study of the areas around Broadview and Pape subway stations for intensification as a means of creating new affordable housing. The study has been appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal. More information can be found at this link: 2022.TE31.12 - Danforth Avenue Planning Study - City-Initiated Official Plan Amendment and Urban Design Guidelines - Final Report.
